I once heard that for every 50 applications submitted, you will get one call back. This statistic couldn’t be more true.
So, I was so excited when I got a job at Select Medical! It was such a relief. I accepted the job offer, but did not sign a contract. Today, I get a call from TempStar saying that I go a job. O-M-G! I feel so blessed that I have two different options. I know what you are thinking, what is the dilemma?……..
The dilemma is I don’t know what job to take. There are so many pros and cons to both jobs.
I will keep you updated!!!!!!

Last Sunday, April 15, I hosted the Lambda Pi Eta Induction Ceremony. It was so much fun and yay for the new members; Doug Umberger, Katie Gentile, Becky Wilcher, Alex Minsky and Casey Rohrbaugh (not pictured) I can’t wait to hear about the big things they do with the club next year!
To the far left are Brittany Berger (treasurer) and Dorie Hyer (secretary)
I love both of them and the club would have been successful without them!
This is the first year I participated in Relay for Life. I wrote in a previous blog that PRSSA raised over $1,000 for the American Cancer Society (Relay for Life.) What a fun event! I expected tons of people walking and sad stories being told by survivors, but it was nothing like that! It was a giant party! Yes, people were walking and survivors told stories, but the stories were funny and inspiring.
I was there from 6:30 p.m.- 11:30 p.m. and there was awesome entertainment; belly dancers, bands and edible sand art. Every time you walked around the track you recieved a bead to put on your string, symbolizing how many laps you walked.
I would defiantly suggest signing up next year even if you can only be there a few hours. It was a rewarding experience.
I feel privileged to have had the best insight into the communication world this week from Dana Perino, President Bush’s secretary, and an alumni panel at a PRSSA meeting. I want to share some quotes that stuck with me.
Quotes from Dana Perino:
The question a student asked.. Do you think a college degree is still worth getting?
(I wonder the same thing as I’m job searching because a lot of the jobs only ask for a high school degree.)
“If I was an employer looking through a stack of resumes I would take out the resumes without a college degree just to cut down the size of the pile.”
“Don’t be discouraged if you do not know everything because you will learn.”
For women, “Talk with a strong voice because there is nothing employers hate more than a woman that is weak.”
Quotes from the three alumni at the PRSSA meeting:
“What is the worst that can happen if you call an employer and they say no?” ”You don’t have a job and you still won’t.”
(This is so true! It was a great reminder to be persistent and go for what you want.)
“There will be work parties where alcoholic beverages will be served. Drink a maximum of two until you are comfortable with the people and you know that they will be drinking as much as you.”
(Although this seems a little bit silly, I would never want to make a bad impression and this is a great reminder to think everything through.)
P.S. There is now less than 4 weeks until graduation!

Everyone is talking about where they are going on Spring Break. My roommate is going to Florida, my friend from home is going to Cancun… and where is Megan Black going you ask. HOME. Although I LOVE being home, how is it fair that everyone gets to go on amazing vacations?! SO to everyone out there not going anywhere exotic, I feel your pain… we will make it through.
Lambda Pi Eta made $100 to give The American Heart Association! A special thanks to Bistro 19 for allowing us to have the fundraiser. I would have liked to have seen more students there, but I am thankful to have raised the amount we did.
I wish I would have taken a picture of the event, but oh well.
